The PXDAC4800 is a 14-bit PCI Express based arbitrary waveform generator that provides four simultaneous outputs at data-conversion rates of up to 1.2-Gsamples/s, enabling the creation of signals from DC to 600 MHz. Waveform playback can be from the 1 Gbyte of onboard data memory, which allows for full control of the signal characteristics. Data for playback may be streamed directly from the PCI Express bus at up to 1400 Mbytes/s. This operating mode allows direct signal frequency of up to 87.5 MHz when using all output channels. Further, the instrument can perform digital upconversion on the incoming data stream, placing its frequency band anywhere across the instrument’s 600-MHz bandwidth. The PXDAC4800 provides two programmable Xilinx FPGAs, so users are able to generate custom signals.
